Hello to anyone who is still reading-
I ran the Columbus marathon today. I ran it in 2 hrs and 5 mins, which I thought was pretty good considering I woke up with a cold yesterday and I haven't really been training.
As always, I began the day bemoaning why I think these events are good ideas. I was very concerned about throwing up on the course. Similar to my fear last year that my toes were broken and the race volunteers would have to amputate my feet, this was not founded on much fact just horrible fear that I would be sick during the race. The difference between the two scenarios being was last year I was running as I thought this up, this year it was lack of sleep that formed the idea and I wasn't even on the course yet. All I could envision were rows of people cheering and nowhere that I could discreetly and like a true lady, vomit. In all my pondering, I decided the best thing would be to find a wastebasket and make sure my head was below the rim before retching. Of course, I did not get sick during the race. However, if I ever do, I now have a plan. Thank goodness.
The race was actually quite enjoyable once I got started. The weather was crisp and the terrain was flat.
Other than that, I have been sloughing (ploughing slowly) through Greek tragedies. I had to stop last Wednesday after getting a Greek hangover. One gets a Greek hangover when one has read so many Greek tragedies that the world looks a little bleaker and the sun doesn't shine as bright. Forget not having a date on Friday, the Greeks had much worse problems.
I have auditions this week for the show I am directing. I welcome any feedback on previous auditions for things to do and things not to do.
